Our Story

The history of the organization has a compelling story between the country of Kuwait and the United States. This isn’t a grassroots campaign started by kids to have their voices heard, rather the inception of the organization was led by two accomplished and compassionate men in the Middle East who wanted peace in the world after their beloved country endured the violence of being invaded. The other founder, an American, was actively involved in the Citizens for a Free Kuwait campaign in Washington D.C. Together, they used their network and affiliations to establish an initiative to empower youth to be the experts on the problems facing violence. Now, government officials, agencies and schools examine directives made by middle schoolers to solve or prevent problems of violence.

Learn How We Work

History

The National Campaign to Stop Violence was established in 1994 between the people of Kuwait and The United States of America. After the United States liberated Kuwait in 1991, Kuwait organized a charitable organization, The Kuwait-America Foundation (KAF) in the United States to express continued gratitude for the American sacrifice during the Gulf War and to strengthen ties among the two countries.

The founding directors of the Kuwait-America Foundation are Dr. Hassan Al-Ebraheeem, Mr. Fawzi Al-Sultan, and Mr. Daniel Q. Callister, Esq. Their commitment to seek funding from Kuwaiti individuals and organizations has allowed KAF to be the main sponsor for the National Campaign to Stop Violence and create youth violence prevention programs across the United States. KAF focuses its resources on education, cultural exchange and programs for youth and disadvantaged persons. All KAF programs and events communicate the sincere desire of the people of Kuwait to have a lasting and strong relationship at a grass-roots level with the United States.
