Roberta Wolfe Bryant
Inaugural Roberta Wolfe Bryant Community Service Award
Roberta loved young people and spent the first years of her career as a teacher. Feeling that she could have even more impact on youth, she pursued a law degree that gave her the ability to work directly with youth in the juvenile court system. It was her time in the Wayne County Juvenile Justice Department that she was introduced to the DtWT Challenge Program.
Roberta fervently believed in the benefits of DtWT, and shared her love of the program with everyone she met. This led to her now-legendary plane ride conversation with Karen Price-Ward, Manager of Corporate Community Affairs for Southwest Airlines. Roberta, never one to be shy, spoke at great lengths to Karen about the program, and we have consequentially been the recipients of Southwest’s generosity since, with Southwest’s donation of the green passes that make our summer program possible.
