The Roberta Wolfe Bryant Community Service Award

This award is given to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to his or her community through the “Do the Write Thing” Challenge program. As DtWT relies on hundreds of volunteers each year, service is at the heart of our program.

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. “ Everyone who met Roberta knew that she had a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.

Roberta fervently believed in the benefits of DtWT, and shared her love of the program with everyone she met. This led to her now-legendary plane ride conversation with Karen Price-Ward, Manager of Corporate Community Affairs for Southwest Airlines. Roberta, never one to be shy, spoke at great lengths to Karen about the program, and we have consequentially been the recipients of Southwest’s generosity since, with Southwest’s donation of the green passes that make our summer program possible.

We honor Roberta Wolfe Bryant and her commitment to improving her community and the lives of all those around her.
